There are many gambling halls in the commonwealth, most on moored river boats. The largest of the Iowa gambling halls is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, an American Indian gambling den in Tama, with 127,669 sq.ft. of casino space, 1,500 slots, 30 table games, like chemin de fer, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several types of poker; also three eatery’s, bimonthly entertainment, and gaming lessons. A further big Indian gambling hall is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 sq.ft., 668 one armed bandits, and fourteen table games. Additionally, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs never closes, with 38,500 square feet, 1,589 slots, 36 table games, and four eatery’s. There are several other popular Iowa gambling dens, including Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 square feet, 1,212 slots, and 39 table games.
A smaller Iowa gambling den is the Diamond Jo, a river boat gambling den in Dubuque, with 17,813 square feet, 776 one armed bandits, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend river boat, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 square feet, 535 one armed bandits, and 14 table games. One more Iowa river based casino, The Isle of Capri, is open 24 hours, with 24,939 sq.ft., 1,100 slots, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 sq.ft. paddle wheel boat gambling hall in Clinton, has 506 slot machines, 14 table games, live shows, and Thursday blackjack matches.
Iowa casinos offer an excellent deal of tax revenue to the government of Iowa, which has allowed the funding of many commonwealth wide activities. Tourism has increased at a fast percentage along with the demand for processors and a gain in employment. Iowa gambling halls have been instrumental to the advancement of the economy, and the excitement for wagering in Iowa is across the board.
